Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP, Emmanuel Idowu Asufi, in charge of Administration in the Bayelsa State Police Command, was reported to have slumped and died at the command’s headquarters in Yenagoa on Tuesday.

ACP Asufi, an Indigene of Obinomba community, in Ukwuani local government area in Delta State, is believed to be in his late 50s, reportedly died on Tuesday afternoon to an undisclosed ailment.

The death of the former security aide to former Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Seriake Dickson, has unsettled the command as an attachee to the Operation Puff Adder disclosed the situation to our correspondent

According to the attached who wouldn’t want his names on print said, ” It was shocking. Many of us saw him come into the headquarters smiling and exchanging pleasantries with everyone including the rank and file.

” But we were shocked when an alarm was raised that he collapse and was dying. They had to rush him to the Federal Medical Centre where he died.

The spokesman of the Bayelsa Police Command, Asinim Butswat, who confirmed the demise of Asufi said it was a sad day for the command.

Late Asufi also served as chief security officer to the Bayelsa Government House and Commander of the State Security Outfit, Doo Akpo.
