Broadcasting station Founder and Producer of the Berekete Family Show, Ahmed Isah has picked the People Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Nomination form for, Gov. Udom Emmanuel of the Akwa Ibom State.
The form was presented to the governor on Friday during a courtesy visit on him by the Human Rights Radio Producers of the popular national radio and television programme, Brekete Family Show in Uyo at the Hiltop Mansion.
Presenting the form to the governor, the leader of the delegation, Mr Innocent Orji said although Gov. Emmanuel was not the only personality hosted on their programme.
He said that after they came to Akwa Ibom, and discovered more than what they heard from the Governor on their interview programme, the management decided to draft the governor into the presidential contest.
“We all agreed that if you can do these in a State, if given that opportunity, you will do even better at the national level.”
Orji, popularly known as ‘Scaffold,’ said, “We don’t believe in too much talk, we are here today to present to you the nomination form for presidential candidate of your party.”
The Governor while expressing his appreciation to the kind gesture said, “Honestly when I heard this plan to buy me a Presidential nomination form was going on, I asked myself, how can they raise up to N40 million to go and buy me a form?”
” I commend the team for choosing me out of over 200 million Nigerians. it is a privilege and honour, which will not be taken for granted.”
He assured Nigerians that he would would not fail them for trusting his capacity to deliver in a higher dimension.
The governor explained that whatever he has achieved in AKwa Ibom State presently had been with the support of his people, adding that whatever success could be attained in Nigeria could be achieved collectively.
Giv. Emmanuel said that Nigeria presently needed leaders with capacity, sincerity of purpose, selflessness and readiness to make sacrifices.
He observed that money is a principal thing and Nigeria of today needed someone who understands money.
The governor said that It was unfortunate that if Nigerians were looking for a Managing Director of a particular company, the Corriculum Vitae needed, would be up to three to four pages.
”But when they are looking for a President of the country, based on the constitution, all we need is WAEC without any experience.”
He however, lamented that premium was not paid to the leader in whose hands lie the destiny of over 200 million people, as it is done for a Managing Director of a company that had only few shareholders and stakeholders.
Gov. Emmanuel said that certain things needed to be corrected in 2023, in order to move the country forward.
He reminded the team of importance of God in the business of leadership, and hoped that the group had sought the consent of God before embarking on the venture.
Governor Emmanuel confirmed that he had accepted the forms as all Nigerians could not come together to give him something and he refuse, adding that anyone with the experience of running a state in Nigeria for eight years could pilot the affairs of the country.
