Dame Okowa made the call during the ”05 Initiative’ grassroot medical outreach at the Central Hospital in Agbor, Headquarters of Ika South Local Government Area of theState.
”The society will be heathier when people avoid risky behaviours. It is the will of God for us to be healthy, but we must consciously embrace godly and healthy living.
“Parents, especially women, have failed in their responsibilities. The decay in the society has become worrisome; hence, the need for us to wake up because what makes success is a successor,” she added.
She also said, “we came prepared to attend to the health challenges of Ika people, just as we have done in other areas in the state.
“This free medical outreach is not meant for the honourables in the state, but for the vulnerable. It is designed for those who are unable to take care of their health challenges financially.”
Dame Okowa also said that medical experts would be at the venue of outreach to attend to individuals with different health challenges.
She also urged members of the public to develop the habit of checking their BPs and sugar levels among others.
Highpoints of the event were the presentation of glasses to some residents of the area by Dame Okowa and the distribution of food and other gift items to patients in the hospital.
