Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, on Thursday commiserates with former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, over the loss of two of his security details in an auto crash in Abuja on Wednesday.
Governor Diri, who expressed shock at the fatal accident in a condolence message to Dr. Jonathan, described the unfortunate incident that claimed the lives of Inspectors Ibrahim Abazi and Yakubu Toma as sad and shocking .
This was contained in a statement made available to Bayelsa Times by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, adding that as a special son of Bayelsa, the governor and indeed the whole state share in the grief of the former Nigerian leader.
The Governor noted, “To lose an aide that has worked closely with you is always a painful experience and i pray God to strengthen you and the deceaseds families.
“We also condolled with the families of the late officers, and we urge them to take solace in the fact that they departed while in the line of duty and their service to the country would not be in vain,” he said.
The Bayelsa governor also condoled with the Police High Command and the Inspector-General of Police over the death of the officers, saying they are a huge losses to the institution.
