In Okonjo Iweala’s book, ‘Fighting Corruption Is Dangerous: The Story Behind the Headlines’, she wrote of Peter Obi as the only governor who supported the move by Goodluck Jonathan when Crude oil hit an all time high between 2011 and 2014, to remit proceeds from the sale to the excess crude account.
Other Governors revolted and wanted it shared. When they got theirs, some stashed the money in different accounts, some used it to sponsor elections and others wasted in on many different frivolities.
Peter Obi never did. He quickly invested the entire proceeds in Eurobond, Sabmiller (an international brewery), and many other foreign companies.
Today Anambra State earns from the investment in Eurobond when any state runs to Eurobond to take loans.
Today the initial $20m investment in Sabmiller is worth over $100m making Anambra the largest shareholder of the company worldwide.
Obi has always been clear of all these rogue politicians who just want to squander money with no futuristic plans.
