Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers, predominantly of the Sen. Magnus Abe’s faction, have inaugurated 2023 Bola Ahmed Tinubu Support (BATS) in the state with the conviction that the former Lagos governor is most “eminently qualified” to be Nigeria’s next President.
At the BATS Rivers chapter inauguration in Port Harcourt, Sen. Wilson Ake said, ”for someone to work and another person will come and eat is not of God. We are supporting Tinubu because we know that he is eminently qualified, and he has worked so hard to see APC win.
”We do not have that wicked spirit in us. That is why we are saying we must pay back Tinubu what he has put into APC. We are not against anybody. Anybody who wants to try should go ahead, but they should not use the question that they must eliminate Tinubu to succeed.
Ake who is Chairman of the group’s Steering Committee alleged that the 2020 EndSARS crisis was instigated by detractors who would not want the former APC founder to become president in the next elections.
“They went far as starting EndSARS in Lagos. EndSARS ended up by burning Tinubu’s hotel, his television house, his newspaper house when Tinubu is not in government. You can see the target is how do we decimate this man?
Meanwhile, a retired civil servant in the old Rivers State government, Chief Abeke Ebi, thinks differently, wondering why, “Every old and tired leg in Nigeria want to occupy the highest seat in Nigeria as a retirement benefit, and I ask, are these people not tired of taking this country backwards?
“What can Tinubu offer when he failed to support Restructuring which was in his party’s manifesto prior to the election that ushered in an APC Regime?
”He has nothing to offer apart from medical bills that the Clcountry would be forced to pay to keep their President alive, just like the late President Umaru Yar’ Adua matter and President Muhammad Buhari.”
