A member of the House of Representatives and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Rivers State, Hon. Farah Dagogo, who was arrested on Thursday on the order of Governor Nyesom Wike, has been remanded.
reports that Dagogo was arraigned before a Port Harcourt Chief Magistrate Court, presided over by Chief Magistrate A.O Amadi-Nna, on a two count charge of conspiracy to felony and cultism, on Friday and was subsequently remanded in Police custody till May 9, 2022 for possible arraignment and consideration of bail.
It was learnt that he was remanded in police custody following a new rule which does not empower Magistrate Court to hear a case of cultism.
Dagogo was arrested by policemen on Thursday evening at the PDP South-South zonal Secretariat in Port Harcourt, where he had gone to be screened as governorship aspirant.
Gov. Woke had earlier declared Dagogo wanted for allegedly masterminding suspected cultists disturbance at the Port Harcourt Secretariat of PDP.
Thereafter, directed the Rivers State Police Command to arrest the lawmaker for alleged hiring of cultists who stormed the Secretariat and district the screening of aspirants for various elective positions.
